Josh Miller serves as Vice President of Exploration at Phoenix Energy, leading the Operating team with a focus on disciplined subsurface evaluation and development planning. He holds a Master of Science in Geology from the University of South Carolina and brings deep experience from roles at Hess and ConocoPhillips, where he supported exploration and development efforts across complex asset portfolios.
Josh’s expertise includes reservoir characterization, stratigraphy, and development optimization, with a proven ability to translate subsurface insights into practical drilling and completions strategies. Throughout his career, he has helped integrate geologic understanding into operational planning to improve production performance and forecasting accuracy. He believes strongly in applying fundamental geoscience principles to both conventional and unconventional plays to drive consistent, repeatable results.
Originally from Rochester, New York, Josh values collaboration and credits the people he works with as the most rewarding part of his role. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, gardening, staying active, and spending time with his daughter. At Phoenix Energy, Josh focuses on evolving the company’s exploration capabilities and contributing geologic insights that support long-term value creation and responsible resource development.
